This year, the Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival highlights films from exactly one hundred years ago, 1926. The festival showcases many of the most notable films from the year, starring and directed by some of the most important figures of the period. Due to the poor survival rate of silent films, many notable releases from this year are lost. Here are just some of the noteworthy films from this year that do not survive.
